The Beacon is more than a meal. It's a way out of homelessness. Our organization meets the daily needs of hundreds of homeless men and women while also empowering them with housing case management, appropriate program referrals, and civil legal aid. Our organization does not provide overnight shelter.

The Day Center:
The Day Center is open Thursday through Monday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Day Center provides a hot lunch, access to showers, and laundry services and serves as the central hub for referral services to our other programs including housing assessments with Coordinated Access, pro bono legal services with Beacon Law, and case management and mail privileges with COMPASS as well as access to the Cathedral Clinic run by Healthcare for the Homeless.

Brigid's Hope at The Beacon
Brigid's Hope at The Beacon offers transitional housing and supportive services in an effort to reduce the number of women returning to the criminal-justice system.

Beacon Law
Beacon Law provides pro bono legal services for Houston's homeless and low-income individuals including ID restoration and criminal sealing cases.

Housing/Coordinated Access
Through the Way Home initiative, homeless individuals are able to receive housing assessments onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

COMPASS
After merging in 2019, COMPASS and its services are now officially a part of The Beacon. These services include mailbox privileges, transportation services, walk-up case management, and access to the Harris Health System.

Tags Donations Needed: Each contribution, large and small, brings us closer to fulfilling our mission. In-kind gifts help offset our costs and enable us to provide our clients with items they greatly need. It was a good experience until I got to the desk with the very large security guard. He was rude and talked to ppl like we were beneath him. That sure didn't help out with my dignity and respect! Just bc ppl are homeless doesn't mean we are nobody. As he sat eating a sandwich at the desk. I was disgusted just like he was. Same goes for the lady with the shaved head and large eyebrows with glasses. She talked to everyone like they were illiterate. I'm sure I'm more educated than both of them combined! You never know wat life throws at you and we are all ppl. But that was a very disrespectful and hurtful moment. Maybe more training , I was there Friday September 6th 2019. I will not return

There's alot of information online for the beacon , the only issue is there hours are only on one page which I can not find it again and there is so many articles to open it makes it that much harder to find please it would be nice to have it on all the pages posted
