The Grayson County Shelter offers homeless families, women and single men over 45 a safe, clean, healthy, physical and social environment as they work toward their goals of self sufficiency. The GCS also offers support and encouragement to clients in accessing external social services while seeking employment, housing and self-reliance.
Admissions Policy: The Grayson County Shelter currently accepts the following:
Men over 45
Single Women Over 23
Married Couples
Families
Families Restrictions Apply To: No Single Men Under Age 45
No Minors Without Parents
No Admission Without I.D. (State Issued Photo ID - Social Security Card)
No Unregistered Guests
Clear Police Checks
No illegal drug or alcohol use
No tobacco use inside the building
No violent behavior or past charges
No charges of any kind against a child
Follow written rules of the shelter
A safe, clean and secure temporary home while searching for jobs and housing
A telephone number and address to use during employment searches
Private rooms for families so they can remain together
Meals, personal care items and clothing
A minimum 21 day stay allowing opportunity to save income and return to self-reliance
On-site washer and dryer facilities
A fenced playground for resident's children
Referrals for social services and other agencies
