Helping Hand Ministry

Address
709 S Boston
Tulsa, OK - 74119

Helping Hand Ministry is a food pantry. Serves Tulsa County. Documentation Required: Picture ID, Social Security card.

Food pantry service hours: by appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

Helping Hand Ministry, an outreach of First Presbyterian Church, combines ministry and mission by offering short-term assistance to Tulsans in need. Launched under the supervision of the First Church Deacons over 30 years ago, the Helping Hand Ministry has evolved into an independent not for profit corporation. Five mornings a week, from 9 a.m. to noon, compassionate volunteers help individuals and families dealing with a temporary crisis by assisting in the payment of their utility bills, rent, or prescriptions and with the distribution of food from the pantry.

Helping Hand has no paid staff or operating expenses—every dollar donated is disbursed in aid of the ministry’s clients. First Presbyterian Church provided ongoing financial support as well as building space in the Bernsen Community Life Center.

* Make sure you check by calling the food pantry to confirm that they still are in operation and the hours have not changed.

Was standing outside in the cold in line for an hour and a half. Got my number. Got in. Sat. A lady looked at everyone's bills(including my prescription)They knew it was my first time there. Went to the restroom. Went to the desk to ask the elderly lady with brown hair and brown eyes and kind of short if she called my name because I was in the restroom. Told her my name. Told her my number. 2 or 3 times. She said no. I sat down. Next thing I know they say we are out of funds. I went to ask her if she called my name. She said I called it 3 times and nobody answered. I did not hear her call my name. I told her that. She was very rude to me. She said. I did! 3 times! Nobody answered! I said you knew I was here though. She didnt say anything to that she just gave me a real hateful look. She said so, I went on to the next people and gave them funding. And she was very hateful and sounded vindictive about saying she went on to funding people after me.
