Description: Charlotte County Homeless Coalition
Provides emergency shelter for men, women, and families. New client intakes only on Mondays through Fridays 9am - 5pm.

We are the only homeless shelter in Charlotte County FL – Charlotte County Homeless Coalition.

At the Safe House Emergency Shelter, we provide up to 60 days of shelter for people and families in crisis.

The Safe House Emergency Shelter is a 52 bed general population shelter with a focus on families. This is the only shelter available in Charlotte County. Safe, supervised and dry, the shelter allows clients to stay up to 60 days. In addition to serving the single male and female population, it is the goal of the Safe House Shelter to keep families intact.

This includes couples, couples with children, or single parents with minor children. There are six family units. The Safe House Shelter has served nearly 1,000 of Charlotte County’s homeless individuals and families, and more than 74% of those residents have gone on to permanent independent housing. The Shelter provides intensive Case Management by professionals.

Case Managers assist clients in obtaining driver’s licenses, identification cards, birth certificates, social security cards, military forms, etc.

Intensive case management including employment opportunities, resume, and interview skills

Assistance in eligibility and application for Veteran’s benefits & services

The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition provides centralized intake for homeless clients with referrals as necessary to: Crisis Intervention Team; Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU); Detox-Recovery Center (CBHC); Outpatient Evaluation & Counseling; AA/NA On-site 6-days per week; Crisis and Rape Emergencies (CARE); Department of Children & Families (DCF); and Homeless Youth Education

Residents are expected to go to work, if employed, or prepare for and seek employment. Children will go to school or participate in child-care programs. Through collaborating agencies, training, transportation and other social services are made available to our clients.

Safe, supervised, dry shelter includes breakfast, dinner, and intensive case management.
