Description:
Our 24-bed facility, part of the Rollie Mullen Center for women and children (up to age 16) is a safe place where clients can stay for up to 12 weeks. Clients participate in daily meetings and on-going case management with access to housing referrals, legal advocacy, vocational services and job readiness training, and ongoing workshops on a variety of topics, including budgeting and positive parenting skills.
Responds to police and hospital calls to work with victims in the first hours after an incident. Team members provide support and inform victims of services available to them and their options.
Pets are important members of the family they can provide comfort and strong emotional support. 71% of pet-owning women entering women's shelters report that their batterer injured, maimed, killed or threatened family pets for revenge or to psychologically control victims. Although we recognize that safety is important for pets as well, we are unable to house pets at our emergency shelter. Please ask a friend or family member to care for your pet, make arrangements at a local pet boarding facility, or check with the Animal Welfare Institute.
