when I was there, the place was like a zoo !!! They have mostly people there that have serious serious issues, drugs, mental illnesses, parent/caretakers that were extremely abusive to their children, verbally and physically !! There was very limited financial aid for the residents, that was ACTUALLY utilized ,though they always spoke in the "hall meetings" that there was lots of funds to assist. This didn't happen for many. Some of the staff really shouldn't have been working there, as some of them aren't in a mental condition to redirect the residents. Many times the staff would use food as a tool against residents, if it was something they coveted, they would shut down early so they could take home the food. They would have these "housing seminars" that one of the housing coordinators would always try to convince the residents to either share housing (strangers now) or rent, and all these were provisions she was pushing for her slum lord friends. Even though when I arrived there, the place was less than a year, it was like a prison, metal toilets, sinks just awful !!! The bathrooms stayed nasty, to the point they would have to close some down during the day to keep this down. Someone one really should investigate the running of that place. Ms.Mary tried her best to run this debacle of a place, but ma y of her staff worked against her. Close the place or get better management !!!

The shelter serves as an all-inclusive resource to help stabilize the homeless of Baltimore County through case management, rapid re-housing programs, aftercare coordination, and a Samaritan Housing Program for the chronically homeless.

Case Management
Case managers deliver one-on-one counseling and programming to build life skills, cultivate job readiness and improve financial literacy.

Rapid Re-Housing Programs
Rapid re-housing specialists ensure that guests are able to live independently before finding them permanent, secure housing. In the last year, over 150 individuals were housed through the Rapid Re-Housing Program.

Aftercare Coordination
Aftercare Coordinators act as a resource navigator and community advocate for guests as they exit the shelter by working with the Rapid Re-Housing Program, CAN's Community Outreach Program, along with community partners, to ensure that shelter guests receive all inclusive community-based supportive services to help move them toward self-sufficiency.

Samaritan Housing
The Samaritan Housing Initiative Program is a federally (HUD) funded housing project. To support HUD's goal of improving housing accessibility for persons with disabilities, the project houses chronically homeless men and women in Baltimore County who have been diagnosed with a disabling condition.
