Comment 1. - User debbie states - This shelter is run more like cult than a shelter.
Comment 2. - User mr. exxxx states - Shelter... The word means to most people looking for refuge from the heat and hunger, a place of rest and a place to call home. This place is not fit for animals let alone the homeless, or families with children. The center grounds are watered daily with water coming directly from a septic tank. The children are malnutritioned and underfed. There are no options to better oneself by getting employment due to the rule that you cannont leave between 8am and 5pm. if you choose, you may leave to find work, but the consequence for this is termination. Residents are given the option to work the center grounds from 10 to 14 hours or more a day. If they refuse, they lose their place of stay. No compensation is given for the work done, meaning no amount is deducted from the monthly fee to stay of $450.oo per month. No payment is received by the residents for their labors. It is simple. Do the work given, or leave. The Center is infested with cockroaches and mice. The food donated is NOT given to the homeless. It is given to the workers and their families of this Center, or sold to members. Some of the family rooms have NO air conditioning. The temperature is at a regular 85+ degrees. The daycare center in the facility is run by unliscensed women with absolutely NO experience with children. The daycare is kept filthy with dirty diapers and hardly any toys for entertainment. The Center for Empowerment was recently described as a concentration camp.
Comment 3. - User rena rideaux states - well this sounds very alarming to me.A shelter sometimes is only what it is......shelter only. I feel like just because it is a shelter people should not treat you like you are a child just because you are in need because what if it where their family ,I am quite sure that it would be a lot more different!
