  2. That's a complicated question. It's safer than right outside the door, the street outside and under the bridge is terribly unsafe. They will kick you out for 'disrespect' over the slightest thing - especially if you are questioning what the staff are doing - when the staff is actually in the wrong. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, if you say so much as "What? Why?" to a staff who is saying something that makes no sense, you're 'disrespectful' and out the door.

Do you have any advice for those wanting to stay at this shelter?

User Answers

  1. Don't trust staff with your belongings. They want you to put your things in their bag room and peoples' things come up missing out of the locked bag room all the time.

  2. Come to Karm and they will take care of you.

  3. Don't fall for the Love Bombing in the launchpoint class, and agree to join any of their live in programs. Berea (now called something else) destroyed person after person who was in the program during the time that I stayed there. They all left badly shamed and broken. They use you and then destroy you when they can't control you anymore.

KARM gives you a warm bed, food, and fellowship. I stayed there for a period in 2006 and the only problems I saw were those who did not follow the rules.
