The Salvation Army Center of Hope West Palm Beach

1577 North Military Trail
West Palm Beach, FL - 33409

The Salvation Army Center of Hope is a transitional housing program which has been operating since 2000. The Center provides substance abuse and mental health treatment services along with case management and housing up to 24 months for eligible single men and veterans. The Center's programming is designed to reduce barriers to economic self-sufficiency for homeless men. Its goals are to increase skills and/or income, residential stability, and self determination. Center of Hope services include transitional housing, meals, assistance with clothing and transportation, life skills and GED classes, on-site NA/AA meetings and a comprehensive substance abuse and mental health program. The 95-bed Center of Hope is a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, year-round program providing a stable living environment for homeless men and/or chronically homeless chronic substance abusers who are residents of Palm Beach County.

The Salvation Army's Chaplain serves full-time and offers weekly bible study, meditation, counseling, and other Christian programming for residents who desire spiritual activities while at the Center.

The Center of Hope contracts Addictions Research & Consulting Corporation and its Paige Foundation to provide treatment and services for COH residents and for others who are at risk of homelessness, those referred by Drug Courts and dually diagnosed clients whose needs and profiles are consistent with the HUD residential Supportive Housing Program. Approximately 95% of the Center's residents receive evidence-based drug or alcohol treatment for their addictions and up to one-third may also be dually diagnosed with mental illnesses.

Addiction and /or mental illness is not a criterion for enrollment in the Center of Hope... however, applicants must be homeless.

User Answers

  1. Very positive and if anyone has a complaint about it they are probably not willing to do what is required to improve their situation. Food was excellent and the veterans residence was accommodating and quiet. Everyone respected each other

This place is horrible! My friend is homeless, has been calling for days, gets voice mail and this Salvation Army never returns any calls and does nothing to help yet they sure have their hands out at all the stores especially around the holidays for donations. I'll never give anything to them again!
