Mission House - Day Shelter

Day Shelter only.

Homeless Day Facility Service Hours:
Mon-Sat: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mon-Fri: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sun: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Mission House is open seven days a week, excluding Easter Sunday, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Two hot meals are served Mon-Fri at noon and 7 p.m.  A Saturday meal is served at noon and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Two hours before each meal, clients are able to shower (including all toiletry items), get a change of clothing (including undergarments), make a phone call, and use our computer and job board to search for employment.
Case Management:
Mission House clients work one-on-one with the case managers to develop a program planned to restore their independence.  Services for active clients include: obtaining identification, sources of income, housing, substance abuse referrals, medical assistance through our clinic, bus passes for jobs or doctor appointments, and clothing vouchers for interview/job clothing.
Clinic Services:
The Mission House clinic provides immediate medical care to those exhibiting pain or chronic medical issues that need attention.  The clinic operates on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings by appointment only.  Appointments are taken on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Patients must be homeless and/or uninsured Duval County residents with monthly income below $1,915 and be at least 18 years of age.  We do not provide routine physical or gynecological exams or HIV testing.  Students from the UNF nursing program research free medications from drug companies with the Patient Assistance Program for medications that are not available on order to Mission House.
Alcoholics Anonymous:
Meetings are held weekly at Mission House at 8 p.m. every Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Spiritual Services:
    Tuesday 6 p.m. music spiritual service with Pastor Keith from Calvary Chapel.
    Listening sessions with Fr. Frank from Our Lady Star of the Sea Thursday evenings
    Every second Tuesday Cross-eyed Ministry comes to give comfort and prayer to our clients.
