Description: PSP's ultimate goal is to permanently end a family's homelessness with one visit to the shelter. The Family Transformation Support Services (FTSS) pilot is directly aimed at accomplishing this ambitious goal.

PSP has provided emergency shelter for more than two decades and our staff has seen firsthand that making the transition from homelessness to stable housing is not easy. Participants are selected for the pilot through a screening process that targets families who are likely to be underserved by existing resources within Hennepin County and at risk for returning to shelter. PSP's FTSS program staff will provide the additional support these families need to make a successful and long-term transition from homelessness to maintaining stable housing in the community.

Supportive Housing
In addition to providing 99 units of emergency shelter for homeless families, People Serving People has the opportunity to help families through longer-term contact with our Supportive Housing Program. People Serving People has 10 two-bedroom apartments with open-ended leases for families with multi-level barriers. Residents of these apartments pay reduced-rate rents for their space and can avail themselves of the services offered by the on-site collaborative agencies. In addition, Supportive Housing residents are provided free telephone service, laundry facilities, utilities, furniture and appliances, and are able to provide and cook their own meals and provide supplies necessary for personal needs and apartment upkeep. The purpose of the Supportive Housing Program is to help families establish a solid foundation of good rental history, employment, education, and family stability.
