Description: St. Vincent Haven is a 26-bed emergency and transitional living shelter serving males 18 years and older who are homeless.
What services do residents receive?
Services begin with a comprehensive intake process which provides us with information about the resident and the services they may need to move toward self-sufficiency.
Residents receive:
·         Assistance to develop and implement an Exit Plan and a Savings Plan
·         Assistance to identify potential employers, complete job applications, prepare resumes and practice interviewing
·         Assistance to secure veterans and/or public benefits
·         Referrals and collaborative case management for housing, mental health and substance abuse issues.
·         Assistance with legal issues through a partnering community service provider
·         Encouragement to further their educational qualifications through GED preparation assistance and materials and
          assistance to identify, apply and find financial support for community college or a four-year institution.
·         Computer and internet access for use for training, education, and obtaining employment
·         Meals, clothing, personal items
·         Transportation to appointments, interviews and employment
What are the hours of operation?
Currently, St. Vincent Haven is open 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays and 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. other days.
What is the length of stay?
The normal length of stay is 30 days but that can be extended if the resident is making solid efforts to secure the resources necessary to allow them to obtain and maintain permanent housing.
What time can intake occur?
Potential residents can request intake starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and at 4:00 p.m. other days.

Volunteers Requests by St. Vincent Haven: Volunteers staff shifts from 4:00-8:00 pm and 8:00-midnight each day. Different cooking teams prepare and serve dinner each night. Call 740/641-6958 or email to volunteer.

Donation Requests by St. Vincent Haven: Food, gift cards, new bed pillows

Many of these shelters now have waiting lists. Please call before going to them. Many waiting lists are very long. Shelters and service also go out of business.
