Description: This Food Pantry is open the 1st and 2nd Wednesday of each month for pick up only once a month. To get on a Wednesday list you must call the Thursday before your needed Wednesday and leave a detailed message with name and phone number. All foods given out are cans, boxes and jars, and sometimes a meat or bean is offered. If there are extras or household needs available they are also given out; sometimes you can pick and sometimes you can't. No fresh milk or fresh fruits and vegetables are available at this Food Pantry. If you want to get on the Holiday Dinner List(2010) you must sign up by August 26th for September 1st pick up or by Sept.2nd for Sept.8th and remain on the list for the 4 months. This food Pantry is in need of Donations throughout the year not just during the holidays. If you have the means to donate it's best to do so in March and October to help the pantry at it's most needed times. For Donation, Volunteer, and other information leave a detailed message for Beverly; she usually returns calls the same day. In addition to a monthly visit to this pantry, Winthrop Residents who receive any low-income assistance such as Public or Section 8 Housing, Food Stamps, TAFDC, or MassHealth can go to First Congregational Church located at 230 Beach Street Revere for their Food Pantry which is open every Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Bring all proof available and photo ID and be prepared the first time to register. Most families on that need the help even with Food Stamps discover that visiting just the Winthrop Food Pantry alone isn't enough to get through a month; an added a trip to Revere's Beach St. Food Pantry provides enough food when the need is there. There is no need to call ahead in Revere unless information is needed.
