Franciscan Center Baltimore Food Pantry and Emergency Services

Provides a soup kitchen, a food pantry, clothing, financial assistance, health care screenings, holiday assistance, a technology resource center and accepts donations.

SERVICES:
1) SOUP KITCHEN: Daily lunch served Mon-Fri, 10AM-2PM.
2) EMERGENCY FOOD: ****Vouchers required from DSS.**** Individuals need to go to DSS (specifically the one located at 2500 Pennsylvania Avenue, 443-423-7600) and simply ask for a food voucher. Must make sure to have Franciscan Center labeled on the voucher. Three-day supply of groceries available to residents of 21217. Pantry hours are Mon; Wed; Fri, 10AM-2PM. Provides formula and Ensure, when in stock.
3) MEN AND WOMEN'S CLOTHING: Men: Mon, 10AM-Noon and Women: Tues, 10AM-Noon and Both sexes: Wed, 10AM-Noon.
4) EMERGENCY SERVICES: Will only provide financial assistance once in a lifetime to an individual. Provides assistance for obtaining IDs (Tuesdays, will take the first 6-10 people starting at 10AM) and birth certificates (Mondays, will take the first 6-10 people starting at 10 AM). Emergency funds (Mon-Thurs, 10AM-2PM) sometimes available for prescriptions, eviction,dental emergencies; bus tokens occasionally available for emergency or employment-related situations. For BGE assistance, will assist the first 10 people 11AM-1:30PM. Individuals must have a picture id, BGE turn off notice and paperwork from MEAP and/or the Fuel Fund. Additional required items to bring include proof of income and social security card for all family members.
For eviction prevention they must bring the court order and promissory notes(other organizations that are assisting in paying rent, or other proof that they have the remainder of the funds to pay the rent). Will only pay the last $200. Will assist people in section8/public housing. Must have an income that exceeds rent.
For utility assistance they must first apply for MEAP and the Fuel Fund. They must bring proof that they applied when they apply at the Franciscan Center. The Center will assist with the last $200 remaining on the bill. Must have an income that exceeds rent.
5) HEALTH CARE:

Screenings for HIV and other STDs by Baltimore City Health Department, Thurs, 10AM-2PM.6) TRC: Technology Resource Center -- public use computer center; coaching for basic computer skills available. Tues and Thurs 10AM-12Noon.
7) ID: Must be a MD resident. Need to bring original birth certificate, social security cars and 2 proofs of mailing address.
8) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE: Anyone in need can walk in.
