A Christian Home for Children Needing a Chance.
Big Oak Boys' Ranch is located on 223 acres in Southside, Alabama, just outside of Gadsden. The Boys' Ranch includes nine residential homes, a transitional apartment home, gymnasium, equine center, and swimming pool. But most importantly, the Boys' Ranch is built around the idea that even abused, neglected or abandoned children, when given a chance, can grow strong in God's love to lead normal, productive lives.
Here, the children live in as normal a setting as we can possibly create. As many as eight children live in each of the Ranch's comfortable two story brick homes with a dedicated, Christian couple serving as mom and dad. These parents give their lives in full-time service to provide the consistent love, discipline, and direction that the children need. Ages vary in each home so the younger boys will have big brothers and likewise, the older boys can develop a caring and responsible attitude toward their younger siblings.
The children have assigned chores in the homes, and each home is assigned a Ranch task. In addition, there is an organized summer work program for those children who do not have off-Ranch jobs. In this manner, Big Oak is able to teach and instill a godly work ethic in our children.
Each family works together, plays together and attends a local church as a family unit each week. We know children listen with their eyes, and our spiritual emphasis is on witnessing by example in all we say and do at Big Oak Ranch.
