Care for Friends provides easy access to community, food and overall wellness for Chicagos most vulnerable and under-served people, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Through the different programs, Care for Friends successfully connects individuals with community resources with the goal of enabling them to achieve a better quality of life.
Programs/Services:
Food for Friends - Care for Friends serves 9,000 sit down, hot meals every year to any homeless or individual in need. Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10:30a.m. to 1:00p.m.Connections for Friends - Representatives from a variety of partner organizations attend meal times with the goal of creating community connections.Toiletries for Friends - Individuals receive personal hygiene kits for basic self-care (soap, shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste, razor/shave cream) and can use washroom facilities under supervision.Healthcare for Friends - Twice per month, individuals may receive foot care and evaluations by a team of volunteers that includes nurses as well as podiatric and medical doctors.Clothes for Friends - Individuals may get seasonal clothes when getting their meals. Two articles per guest per week.
