Food For Thought

Bags of Love Nutrition for the Homeless

Our Bags of Love program provides ready-to-eat food to hundreds of homeless people in Sonoma County who are seriously ill and at risk of food insecurity.

Homeless individuals who are eligible for our services often don't participate because shelter instability keeps them on the move, they lack transportation to our location, or they simply don't have a way to store the fresh groceries we offer.

We created Bags of Love to ensure this vulnerable segment of Sonoma County's homeless population has access to our healing nutrition services.

Welcome Home Nutrition for Healing After Hospitalization

Any Sonoma County resident who is released from a hospital or care facility and is at risk of malnutrition is eligible for our Welcome Home food program free of charge.

This innovative service is designed to help people heal and avoid returning to the hospital. Our Registered Dietition creates a diet tailored to each clients specific needs.

Program specifics
- Free service for the first three months after discharge
- Home delivery of groceries and quick meals
- Requires a referral from a doctor or medical provider
- Must start within one week of discharge

HIV Food Program

Any Sonoma County resident diagnosed with HIV is eligible to receive Food For Thoughts comprehensive nutrition services free of charge.

The intake process is simple: Come to the food bank, fill out an application, and show us proof of residency and letter of diagnosis from your doctor. Well spend a few minutes telling you about our services and procedures, and you can go home with groceries the same day!

If you are not able to travel to our facility in Forestville, please give us a call and we will make other arrangements for you.
