Description: Ujima Village is a low threshold shelter (not a lot of rules that can be barriers to getting basic needs) serving homeless young people of all genders, ages 18-24. No minors or babies permitted in the facility. Intake is from 8pm to 8:30pm and young people can simply come to the door to get a bed. Ujima is only open overnight from 8pm to 8am and offers dinner, breakfast, safe beds, showers, laundry and voluntary social services.
Volunteers Requests by Ujima Village Youth/Young Adult Shelter: Yes! Volunteers are welcome in doing drives for the needed items listed above as well as a Holiday gift drive, or in leading festivities or activities at the shelter. Social Service professionals with experience in leading life skill groups or working with young fathers are also welcome.
Donation Requests by Ujima Village Youth/Young Adult Shelter: Athletic socks; travel size hygiene items; seasonal outter-ware (hoodies, hats, scarves, waterproof mens' gloves, puffy coats); PPE supplies like large and extra large disposable gloves, disposable face masks, alcohol, Lysol spray, hand sanitizer, disinfectant and cleaning supplies; linens (bath towels, face cloths, twin/single sheets or blankets).
