CAMBA Park Slope Women's Shelter

Park Slope Womens Shelter is a 100-bed shelter at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn. The supportive, structured and therapeutic facility provides temporary housing, nutritious meals and comprehensive services and assistance for mentally ill, substance-abusing women.

The shelter enables women to stabilize their condition and move toward permanent and/or supportive housing. Meals, 24/7 security and on-site medical and psychiatric services are provided. Residents are supported in accessing online resources, completing a virtual resume and applying for jobs.

Eligibility: Homeless women who experience psychiatric illness, substance abuse and other issues; client referrals are determined by the DHS Assessment Unit

  3. Terrible if u have somewhere else to go GO! This shelter has no control of the mentally ill living here I am a current resident I cannot wait to get my own place and get as far away from any shelter in nyc I’ve been thru 4 in 3 months it’s hard staying here if you have to go to a shelter make sure you have support I didn’t have ANY.

  4. I have been there for almost a week now and have yet to see any staff. The food is disgusting, the lockers are flimsy and are not secure.

  6. My stay was not so good. I had an emergency and had to leave. It's obvious I don't have the issues that these women have yes I have mental health issues but I'm in control of it. I work 2 jobs everyday and maintain my money well, this place is the worst.

  2. Yes if you stay to yourself and don't talk to ANYONE!! You are basically on your own, do the only way to be "safe" is if you stay to yourself and lock your locker tight! If at all possible, take ANYTHING of value with you when you leave.... including your shoes because they will take ANYTHING of value!

    The residents are sitting on the steps of my building 1419 8th Ave and are eating and drinking and smoking and leaving their trash on the steps. They also block the way when residents of the building are entering and exiting as well as making noise at all hours. Is there a reason they are allowed to loiter on the steps of my building, when there is an outdoor area for them to sit and congregate in?
