Description: Mattoon Area P.A.D.S. INC., a not for profit organization, provides safe and hospitable shelter, supportive services, and advocacy in order to assist homeless or at risk individuals and families to achieve a higher level of self sufficiency in collaboration with religious and community groups.

Program Aspects:
Emergency Shelter: Providing 30 days of shelter with extensions based on goal attainment.
Soup Kitchen: Serving three meals a day to anyone that is in need of food.
Case Management: We meet with each individual staying at our location minimally once a week to provide counseling, life coaching, and advocacy.

Volunteers Requests by Mattoon Area PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter): Our organization primarily runs by means of volunteers who are willing to commit to help individuals staying at the shelter. There are two primary volunteer positions:- Front Desk: a focus on relational service. One who works the front desk sets up the facility for dinner, talks with the guests, performs intakes, helps with problems that arise, and creates and overall sense of hospitality. Desk workers work from 6:00pm to 11:00 pm.-Kitchen Crew: service in action. Those who are serving in the kitchen prepare all the meals, serve the meals to guests, clean the dishes, wipe down the tables, and make sure the kitchen is clean. Meals are an important part of what we do at the shelter, and preparing the food is an important job. Kitchen crew works from 6:00pm- 8:00pm.Feel free to contact us for volunteer options, other opportunities, or for more information. Thank you!
