Lights On is a Detention Ministry/Reentry Program to assist individuals who are released from the Orange County Central Jail between the hours of 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM each night.  (The standard and scheduled release time.)  The program provides a safe and sober location for both men and women and a place to find resources for safe return home.  

We provide food, drinks, clothing, cell phone usage (to contact family and friends to arrange transportation home) and limited bus transportation for those who have no other resource. The program also attempts to assist individuals find other programs that may help them to fulfill the conditions of release and a first step to get their lives back on track. 

Each year, the program serves nearly 10,000 newly released inmates.

Funding is provided through the generosity of the People United for Christians church of Claremont, CA

Our work, through person-to- person contact, encompasses every form of aid that alleviates suffering and promotes the dignity and self-respect of men and women.  The Society strives not only to alleviate need but also to discover and redress the situations that cause it, serving everyone regardless of creed, color or national origin.

    Person-to-person visit for assessment, discernment and encouragement Financial aid for utilities, medication, household items, etc.
    Rent assistance
    Temporary housing (motel voucher)
    Transportation (bus passes, gasoline)
    Clothing and household furnishings
    Twinning sharing resources with foreign and domestic conferences
