Description: The Guru Nanak Food Pantry was founded in June 2012 by local Sikh Community members as a grass roots attempt to feed the impoverished and underserved population of Orange County. Partnering with the Second Harvest Food Bank and United Sikhs, the pantry was launched in a small 500 sq.ft room in Tustin and doors opened on June 16, 2012. The pantry is open every Saturday from 8.30 till 11.30am and the first Saturday started with 10 families availing of food distributed by volunteers. Now 8 months later the Guru Nanak Food Pantry has over 200 families registered. The Pantry serves about 35 to 40 families each week feed approximately 120 to 150 individuals every Saturday and is registered on the local 211 hotline.

Volunteers Requests by Guru Nanak Food Pantry: We are in need of volunteer who are willing to put a minimum of 2 hours a month at the Food Pantry We are also looking for volunteers willing to drive and pick up items and deliver to the pantry (average 2 hours on a weekday)


Donation Requests by Guru Nanak Food Pantry: Food items distributed include canned food, juices, bread, sugar, flour, rice, confectionery, candies, vegetables, cereal, milk, baby food, etc. Food is picked up, donated and /or purchased from the second harvest food bank by volunteers and stocked prior to serving. The pantry also receives donations of warm clothes in winter and toys to be distributed around the holiday season. The pantry has recently acquired a refrigerator to stock up on fresh food, milk and perishable items like vegetabl
