Compass Center - Compass Housing Alliance Client Service Office

The Compass Center building hosts three different emergency services programs that are all open and free to any in the community who need to connect to resources. The Compass Center building is located in Pioneer Square and is open Monday-Friday, hours vary by program type.

 CLIENT SERVICES OFFICE: The Client Services Office (CSO) provides free mail and banking services for individuals experiencing homelessness. For those who are homeless, a mailing address provides stability and the opportunity to apply for benefits, seek employment, access resources, and exercise the right to vote. One of our most basic services access to the CSO is available on a drop-in basis for all Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.

 HYGIENE CENTER: The Compass Center Hygiene Center offers a place for those experiencing homelessness and housing instability a place to use the restroom, shower and do laundry. This program is open Monday-Friday, 7am-2pm.

 NAVIGATION CENTER & DAY PROGRAM: The Day Program at Compass Center provides people a place to seek refuge, meals, and basic services as well as connect with housing navigation support, case management, entitlements and other benefits, mental health counseling, and nursing services. Services are available on a drop-in basis and are free, though guests are asked to register and agree to basic behavioral guidelines. This program is open Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.

Additional Information:

Besides meals there are other services like laundry, computers, recreational programs, TV rooms, and 3rd party programs available such as Free Phones, Job Assistance, Education, and Medical/Dental.

The Center is generally for all people but is divided into male in one building and females housed separately in another building next store

Each person is assigned a Carol (bed area) and are also given the option of having one or two under the bed storage cages on wheels that can be locked (you provide the lock) to keep your items safe

Each person staying there is also assigned a chore on a rotating schedule.

Doing your chore is a REQUIREMENT and is look at in a way as your effort of paying rent. Though you are NEVER required to pay for any service or for staying there, the chore is very important and everyone is expected to do the chore assigned to them that week. Chores are basic and simple and do not take a lot of effort and take less then an hour to do. Failure to do your chore will lead to the individual being forced to loose their bed for a night, meaning you can not sleep inside and will need to stay away for a 24hr period the first time you do not do a chore, then 48hr the second time, then 72hrs on a third offense.

After 3 notifications of failure to do chores the individual would need to see the head of staff and depending on the outcome of that meeting could loose the privilege of staying at Compass Center and asked to leave permanently.

Exceptions to doing chores are possible for persons with medical issues and for those who are employed and work somewhere other then the Compass Center. T

here is no tobacco use onsite and no illegal drug use either.
