Our mission is to provide a warm, safe space for the local homeless to come in from the elements. To create a sense of belonging and community and bring awareness to the community.

Hearts for the Homeless meets real physical needs by giving away necessities such as clothing, medical supplies, food and toiletries to the area homeless. Supplying basic needs such as these help make people's lives just a little better

Transitional Apartment Program - T.A.P.
Hearts for Homeless Transitional Apartment Program (TAP) was established in May 2015 as a response to the rapidly growing number of homeless families with small children in Centre County.
TAP consists of seven H4H leased apartments housing 15 people ranging in ages from 1 to 64, and serving very small children, single mothers, cancer patients, veterans, recovering addicts, current addicts and the other disadvantaged.
With support from you and our community, Hearts For Homeless is able to secure leases, provide security deposits, and first month's rent which is often a barring factor for our Centre County Homeless during their search for affordable housing. Case managers work with TAP participants and are able make an effort to impart the faculties and experience needed to maintain an apartment, and push towards a work ethic that is financially suitable for our housing market. Clients who graduate from TAP will not only have the confidence to successfully maintain an apartment but they'll have the skills and support to transition into an apartment of their own.
There is currently a waiting list for placement, but with broader funding, we hope to bring our apartment total to 10 and increase TAP's capacity to 20 participants by January 2015.
