Comment 1. - User Susan Maupin states - I arrived at Shared Blessings on 4/25 needing shelter. Glenda the director greeted me.
She was on the phone and the phone cord was chewed on my a stray dog. She asked if I would run to Walmart to get her a new cord - she made a list of things that she needed: phone cord, extension cord and added: cigarettes and soda. I told her that I do not have any money, she said that she would pay me on Monday. THE TOTAL COST WAS $21.65. I told her if I was not paid on monday I would received over draft fees. Sunday we had to go to church. After church Glenda (the director of the shelter) asked me to drive her to Walmart. (I paid for gas) She was trying to return diapers that was donated to the shelter - she wanted cigarettes and a soda. Sunday night Glenda's drunk boyfriend stubbled in and went into her bedroom and closed the door. There was a married couple with 4 kids. (they could not sleep together) but Glenda the directer after forcing us to go to church commits adultry? Monday I asked Glenda for the money that was borrowed from me. She told me that she was not going to pay me back. She threated me to leave and called the cops on me. I left on my own and went to the police station and reported the incident. I ended up going to a Baptist church where I met the paster named Paul who was on the board of directors for the Shared Blessings shelter. He did not repay the Walmart bill but put me in a hotel and for a night.
I would not recommend going to this shelter because there is alot of dishonesty. I went there for help and left "$21.65 poorer" than when I arrived. I was never repayed for the money borrowed. STEALING FROM A HOMELESS PERSON IS VERY LOW.
