St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter

St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter (SJEHS) seeks to provide night-to-night temporary emergency shelter to adult men and women. All services and assistance are offered in the context of the furtherance of human dignity with the primary goal of harm reduction during the coldest weather months of the year.

All people have the right to meet their basic human needs for food, clothing, shelter and medical care. SJEHS allows shelter guests an opportunity for engagement with mainstream shelter and housing resources, mental health and healthcare providers and other social service agencies.

Nightly Emergency Shelter from November through April 5pm - 9am.

St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter, in living the Gospel mandate to care for the poor and vulnerable, believes that all human beings have the right to the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medical care.

Eligibility:
- Single adults 18 years and older. Families will be referred to the Crisis Center.
- The individual has no other housing option available to them at that time.
- The individual conducts himself/herself in a peaceful and respectful
-manner.
- The individual provides complete intake information.
- The individual agrees to a background check, law enforcement and Department of County Human Services, New Community Shelter, and Outreach Health Care and signs the form.
- The staff will consult with appropriate agencies such as law enforcement and Brown County Human Services if there are any safety concerns.
