Crisis Center for South Suburbia - Tinley Park, IL



Mission: The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence and addresses the societal issues that contribute to domestic violence.

The agency offers a broad array of services including: 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency residential shelter, transitional housing, legal advocacy, hospital advocacy and emergency room crisis intervention services, adult and children's individual and group counseling, therapeutic intervention, family counseling, and individual and family case management. In addition to direct services to victims, the Crisis Center offers batterers' intervention and education, dating violence prevention and education, and outreach education and training for the community.


Volunteers Requests by Crisis Center for South Suburbia: CCSS has 65 volunteers who answer the hotline phones. Other volunteers provide child care, support in our Court Advocacy and Hospital Advocacy programs, clerical and maintenance services, gardening, technical assistance, and assistance with special events and projects. Volunteers for our two Neat Repeats resale stores provide valuable services to the agency, and ultimately to the individuals and families served through CCSS. Income from the shops, located in Worth and Orland Park, Illinois, exceeds $600,000 annually.

New brushes, ethnic hair care products, deodorant/anti-perspirant, shampoo & conditioner, body washes & sprays, hand & body lotions, feminine hygiene products, socks, underwear, bras, pajamas, robes, slippers.

Baby Products
Disposable diapers (all sizes), baby wipes, baby wash (no shampoo), baby lotion (no oil), powder & diaper rash ointment, pacifiers, bottles & bottle cleaners, baby food (cereal, juice, vegetables, fruit), socks, slippers, onesies, sippy cups, toddler utensils.

Household & Paper Products
Facial tissue (kleenex), tall kitchen & large black garbage bags, fabric softening sheets, food storage bags, lunch bags (zipper closure), paper towels & napkins, all-purpose household cleaners, dish soap, disposable dishware & utensils, 5 & 9 oz. plastic drinking cups.

Food Items
After school snacks (e.g. Goldfish crackers), canned fruit, nursery water & bottled drinking water, bottled & individually boxed 100% juices, baby items (cereal, juice, vegetables, fruit), powdered drink mixes, grocery store gift cards.

Linens, Etc.
Bath towels & washcloths, new pillows (standard size), pillow covers (plastic, zippered), twin sheet sets (x-long 36×80), twin blankets, crib sheets & baby blankets, dish towels.

Craft Items & School Supplies
Colored paper & construction paper, coloring and activity books, glitter & glitter sticks, bottle glue, child-size scissors, washable markers, colored pencils, backpacks, lunch boxes..

Many of these shelters now have waiting lists. Please call before going to them. Many waiting lists are very long. Shelters and service also go out of business.
