Primary provider of emergency shelter for single homeless individuals and to move them from dependency to self-sufficiency, through supportive services in cooperation with other organizations in the Portsmouth area.
Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation governed by a twenty-seven (27) member independent Board of Directors. Working with over forty-nine (60) houses of faith in Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk and students from Virginia Wesleyan College, PVH provides nightly shelter for homeless persons from mid November through the first week of May each year.
